Terms of use

These terms are short and written in plain language. By using AI Detection you agree to them.

Updated

The service

AI Detection is a free tool that analyses written text for patterns associated with AI-generated writing. Detection is performed by a third-party provider, Pangram Labs. We may change, limit or stop the service at any time.

Results come with no guarantee

Results are estimates and can be wrong. Human writing can be flagged and AI-assisted writing can pass. We do not guarantee that any result is accurate, complete or fit for a particular purpose. See the methodology page for known limits.

Do not rely on a result alone

Do not use a result as the sole basis for any decision about a person, including grading, discipline, hiring, publishing or accusing someone of misconduct. Use it as one piece of information alongside other evidence and a conversation with the author.

What you may submit

Submit only text you have the right to check. Do not submit anything unlawful, and avoid confidential or sensitive material, because your text is sent to Pangram Labs for analysis. Pangram's own terms apply to how it handles that text. Details are on the privacy page.

Acceptable use

  • Do not try to disrupt the service, overload it with automated requests, or get around its limits.
  • Do not attempt to access parts of the service you are not meant to reach.
  • Do not present a result as a guarantee or as proof of authorship.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you submit. You give us permission to process it only to the extent needed to produce your result. We do not store submitted text or uploaded files on our server.

Our liability

The service is provided as it is, free of charge. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses that arise from using the service or relying on its results, including decisions made about you or others. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new version.
